Becoming a Preach my Gospel Member

Monday, May 16, 2016

Yesterday our bishop asked my companion and I to share a talk in sacrament meeting. As I thought of what I should share, one thing came to my mind: "Becoming a Preach My Gospel Member".

There`s an amazing Talk by Elder Bednar, directed to full-time missionaries, that has a similar title

As I thought of how a member can be a Preach My Gospel missionary, one thing came first to my mind:

"Active Latter-day Saints can best help new members remain active by being their friends. Members should reach out to investigators and new members with a warm, positive attitude. Investigators and new converts will respond favorably when greeted with a smile, when sincerely asked about how they are doing, when others sit by them during meetings, and when they are invited to a family dinner or family home evening." (PMG chapter 10).

The most important way to be a missionary is to show love to all those who are around you. When you need to speak, God will put the words in your mouth (D&C 11:21). When you need to invite, God will put the words in your mouth (D&C 84:85). We need not worry about what to say; with the gift of the Holy Ghost we have the right to divine direction. We must simply be an example of righteousness, an example of the happiness that the gospel brings. And we must be willing to open our mouths when the Spirit so directs (D&C 33:7-10).

I love this principle. As we strive to live as we should, God promises us that He will guide our words. That principle helped me when the bishop asked us to give talks without having prepared; it helped me to write this letter; it has helped me every day of my mission. And, as you strive to work in unity with the full-time missionaries, this same principle will help you too.

Well, it has been another great week filled with lots of oportunities to serve the Lord!

First I´ll include some news. Tomorrow is transfers, and Elder Martinez is going to go to my old area in La Quebrada. My new companion is named Elder Diaz. I still haven´t met him, but Elder Martinez tells me he´s cool. So I guess I´ll have more to tell you about that next week.

And, as always, I´m almost out of time. I need to learn to manage my time better. It may be easier once I don´t have an hour limit on my weekly internet time, but for now, that´s a challenge for me!

I´ll just say yet again that I love this work. It is truly the Lord´s work, and there is none other more important.

Love,
Elder Jayson Fraser

My Week

Monday, May 2, 2016

Well, I feel it`s time to take a few minutes to write about how I`ve been doing out here in Tepalcapa.

This is a cool area. It`s all urban and fairly big, but at least it´s mostly flat. The ward is pretty great too. There are lots of members, and they are willing to help us when we ask.

I´ll share for now only one experience for lack of time. A few weeks ago a guy called out to talk to us. We went over, but he only wanted to talk about the United States and was at least a bit drunk, so we didn´t stay long. That isn´t something that´s too out of the ordinary, so we almost just brushed it off and moved on. But we felt we should go back another day.

When we returned a woman came out, saw us, and went back in to ask "Do you want to hear the word of God?" She must have recieved an affirmative answer because she promptly returned and invited us in.

There present were 3 of 7 siblings and a couple of their children and nephews. They all seemed quite sad. As we talked they began to express their feelings, and we learned that one of the sisters is in the hospital.

And because of lack of time, I´ll just say that now we have a huge family who needs the gospel and is willing to recieve us. They are struggling to overcome their sadness and discouragement to the degree that they can start to act. Some have lost their faith. But they all need our help.

This work is directed by God. He leads us to His children, and now it´s our turn to work hard and seek His continued direction in order to help them.

Elder Jayson Fraser

Sorry for another short letter....

Monday, April 18, 2016

Hey guys!

I´m loving the mission. I´m doing so much that I no longer have time to write all of the stuff I would like to. But just know that all is well!

The Lord blesses us greatly. This week we found six new people, with much more family, who are ready to listen to the gospel message. I would love to share their stories individually, but that would go against the title of this message.

I love you all!

Love,
Elder Jayson Fraser

Another short letter...

Monday, April 11, 2016

Sorry for all of the short letters. I´ve been stressed in my hour of internet time with all of this college registering stuff. But just know that all is well here!

I´ve been able to get to know more people here in my new ward in Tepalcapa. It seems like a really cool ward. There are lots of members who love to help us. We need to work closely with them and we will have success!

I love the Lord, and I love this work. I love all of you as well.

Love,
Elder Jayson Fraser

Great Week!

Another week with lots of stuff in a little letter. Sorry about that :)

I`m now in Tepalcapa with Elder Martinez. He`s from Reynosa, Tamaulipas. He`s a cool guy. I think this is going to be a good time here in Tepalcapa.

I`ve yet to meet the whole ward, given that it was general conference. But conference was awesome! I recieved all of the guideance that I was looking for. If you bring questions to conference and ask with faith, they will be answered!

Sorry for being so short, but know that all is well!!!

Lots of stuff real quick

Monday, March 28, 2016

I don´t have much time, but here´s my week:

Daniel Tirado was baptized on Saturday. He had been attending church with his girlfriend in Tepalcapa for a while, but he lives in our ward. So we got into contact with him a while back and have been helping him to prepare. He´s a great guy.

In other news, I´m being transfered to Tepalcapa. It´s close to La Quebrada, but a whole other stake. I´m excited for the oportunity to serve the Lord wherever He wants me to be.

I love this work. It truly is the Lord´s work.

Love,
Elder Jayson Fraser
